Abstract

Дуглас Брімнер, Артур Дауті та Гюстав Ланкто започаткували нове розуміння про архіви й архівіста, їх роль у суспільному житті Канади і органічний зв’язок з історичною наукою у ХІХ–ХХ ст. Об’єктом дослідження є очільники архіву Канади Дуглас Брімнер, Артур Дауті та Гюстав Ланкто. Предметом дослідження є архівна діяльність Дугласа Брімнера, Артура Дауті і Гюстава Ланкто, плани розвитку архіву Канади та їх реалізація, співпраця архівістів з представниками політичної та наукової еліт Канади. Мета дипломної роботи полягає у висвітленні, на основі всебічного аналізу, узагальнення та критичного осмислення, діяльності канадських архівістів Дугласа Брімнера, Артура Дауті та Гюстава Ланкто. Для досягнення поставленої мети в роботі ставляться такі завдання: – з’ясувати стан наукового вивчення проблеми, ступінь репрезентативності та інформативності її джерельної бази; – висвітлити процес створення архіву Канади; – проаналізувати життєвий шлях та архівну діяльність Дугласа Брімнера, його концепцію розвитку архіву Канади, співпрацю з канадськими та американськими істориками, а також програму копіювання архівних документів у країнах Європи; – дослідити життєвий шлях, архівну та наукову діяльність Артура Дауті, проаналізувати архівну реформу, класифікацію архівних документів та наукові роботи архівіста, а також його співпрацю з представниками політичної та наукової еліт Канади; – реконструювати основні віхи життя та архівну діяльність Гюстава Ланкто в роки Другої світової війни та післявоєнний час. Дослідження історії архівної справи у Канаді в рамках діяльності очільників архіву Дугласа Брімнера, Артура Дауті та Гюстава Ланкто дають змогу проаналізувати їх життєвий шлях, архівну та наукову діяльність, а також реконструювати тогочасні процеси формування архівної галузі Канади. Douglas Brymner, Arthur Doughty, and Gustave Lanctot initiated a new understanding about archives and the archivist, their role in Canadian public life, and the organic connection with historical science in the 19th and 20th centuries. The object of the study are the heads of the Archives, Douglas Brymner, Arthur Doughty and Gustave Lanctot’s activity in archival system. The subject of the research is the archival activity of Douglas Brymner, Arthur Doughty and Gustave Lanctot, plans for the development of the Canadian archive and their implementation, cooperation of archivists with representatives of political and scientific elites of Canada. The purpose of the thesis is to highlight, on the basis of a comprehensive analysis, generalization and critical reflection, the activities of Canadian archivists Douglas Brymner, Arthur Doughty and Gustave Lanctot. The purpose is concretized and considered in the following main tasks: - Find out the state of scientific study of the problem, the degree of representativeness and informativeness of its source base; - Highlight the process of creating Archives of Canada - Analyze the life path and archival activities of Douglas Brymner, his concept of the development of the Canadian archive, cooperation with Canadian and American historians, as well as the program of copying archival documents in European countries; - To investigate the life path, archival and scientific activity of Arthur Doughty, to analyze archival reform, classification of archival documents and scientific works of the archivist, as well as his cooperation with representatives of the political and scientific elites of Canada; - To reconstruct the main milestones of the life and archival activities of Gustave Lanctot during the Second World War and the post-war period. Researching the history of archival affairs in Canada within the framework of the activities of the heads of the Archive Douglas Brymner, Arthur Doughty and Gustave Lanctot makes it possible to analyze their life path, archival and scientific activities, as well as to reconstruct the contemporary processes of the formation of the archival industry in Canada.
